    Summary: PHP 5.3 release candidate 1 was released a few days ago. The final version is expected to be released in the upcoming weeks.

    This article presents an interview with core PHP developer Lukas Kahwe Smith that has pushed many of the new features of PHP 5.3 as release manager.

    Lukas talks about PHP 5.3 new features such as lambda functions, closures and PHAR support. He also explains what are traits, which for now it is a feature that was left out of PHP 5.3.

    He also talks about future PHP 5.x and PHP 6, as well how anybody can help in the development of PHP to make it come out faster.

    Now there is also a ranking of the innovation award of all time that considers the score of each author since the award started in 2004. There are also new rankings of author countries for each year and all time.

    Cesar Rodas won the 2008 award. Here he gives an interview telling about many good things that happened since he won last year. He also shares his secrets to contribute so many innovative classes appreciated by the users that voted on them and made possible to win the 2008 award.

    It takes as parameters an SQL query, the number of results to show per page and the current page number.

    The generates HTML and Javascript for links to browse the query result pages.

    When the user clicks on the links an AJAX request is sent to a script that retrieves the page results and the respective pagination links.
